  • The DURNEX high-efficiency thickener incorporates an additional de-aeration chamber that removes air bubbles attached to solid particles, eliminating the "parachute effect" and ensuring effective settling.
  • The feed pipe is positioned below the liquid level to prevent air entrainment during slurry feeding.
  • The feed well is lowered and equipped with a distribution plate, allowing the feed slurry to descend evenly and smoothly, effectively preventing surface turbulence (boil-over) caused by residual feed pressure.
  • An internal overflow weir is added to guide the slurry flow as designed, eliminating short-circuiting and significantly increasing the effective settling area.
  • The overflow weir is designed with a serrated (notched) profile, which mitigates localized suction effects caused by an uneven weir crest.
  • The conventional internal overflow weir is replaced with an external (peripheral) overflow weir, increasing the settling area and reducing the risk of material blockage.
  • Traditional horizontal feeding is changed to inclined feeding, fundamentally eliminating feed pipe blockage issues.
  • A flow-calming device (stilling baffles) is installed to reduce the upward velocity of the slurry, resulting in more uniform overflow and lower turbidity.
