This integrated system combines the high-shear compounding capabilities of a parallel co-rotating twin-screw extruder with the precise shaping and finishing of a multi-roll calender stack.
  • 1. Technical Specifications & Components: The line is modular, allowing for specific configurations based on material requirements (e.g., standard polymers vs. high-temperature engineering plastics).
  • 1) Twin-Screw Extruder a. Design: Parallel co-rotating screws (diameters typically 12-25mm) with a modular "building block" barrel for customized shear profiles. b. Output: Lab-scale throughput from 1-15 kg/h.
  • 2) Calender Unit
  • a. Roll Stack: 3-roll or 2-roll vertical/horizontal polished chrome rollers for precise thickness control.
  • b. Temperature Control: Independent water or oil heating/cooling for each roller to manage polymer solidification and surface finish.
  • c. Gap Adjustment: High-precision manual or motorized nip adjustment for uniform sheet gauge.
  • 3) Downstream Equipment
  • a. Die: Wide flat-sheet "T-die" for uniform melt distribution.
  • b. Take-off & Winder: Constant-tension rollers and winding stations for collecting the final film or sheet onto a core.
  • 2. Working Principle
  • 1) Feeding & Compounding: Raw polymer and additives are fed into the parallel screws, where co-rotation provides high shear to effectively melt and disperse components.
  • 2) Extrusion: The homogenized melt is forced through a flat die, transforming the cylindrical flow into a wide, thin ribbon.
  • 3) Calendering: The hot ribbon enters the nip between calender rolls. These rolls simultaneously set the final thickness, provide a smooth surface finish, and cool the material to a solid state.
  • 4) Collection: The solidified sheet is pulled through a take-off unit and rolled up or cut into pieces for testing.
