Working Principle of Airflow Gravity Separator

The basic principle of air separation is that the airflow will lift the lighter materials out of the equipment or carry them away horizontally, while the heavier materials will fall because the upward airflow cannot support their weight. In other words, the heavier materials will sink because their inertia is so great that their direction of movement will not change drastically. During the separation process, adjusting the frequency converter and air volume can change the direction and speed of particle movement.

Finally, due to the different terminal velocities of the materials, different materials will be separated into different feeders to achieve effective separation.

Specifically, the light materials carried away by the airflow will be transported to one feeder, while the heavier materials will be separated from the mixed materials and enter another feeder. The granular materials falling in the airflow are affected by three forces: gravity, buoyancy, and resistance.

Therefore, when operating the equipment, changes in air volume and speed will affect buoyancy and resistance. The force that overcomes buoyancy and makes the particles rise or fall is called effective gravity.
