  • The rotor shaft is a core component of rotating machinery, undertaking the critical functions of torque transmission and rotating body support. It is widely applied in numerous fields such as motors, turbines, aerospace and automotive industries, and its performance directly determines the operational accuracy, efficiency and service life of equipment. In terms of material selection, rotor shafts need to balance strength, toughness and wear resistance.
  • Alloy steels like 40Cr are commonly used under ordinary working conditions, with quenching and tempering treatment adopted to improve comprehensive mechanical properties. In harsh high-temperature and high-pressure environments such as gas turbines and steam turbines, high-chromium steel and other high-temperature resistant alloys are selected, which can withstand temperatures above 650℃. In structural design, most rotor shafts adopt a stepped shaft structure.
  • Different diameter sections are designed to fit components such as bearings, impellers and gears, and features including keyways and snap ring grooves are machined to achieve precise positioning. For rotor shafts of large equipment like hydroelectric generators, the diameter can reach 3.2 meters. They are manufactured by segmented forging, with a single piece weight exceeding 800 kilograms.
  • After nitriding treatment, the journal achieves a Rockwell hardness of HRC 58-62 to ensure long-term stable operation. Rotor shafts for small motors focus on precision machining, with the coaxiality error controlled within 0.03 millimeters to guarantee dynamic balance accuracy. The processing technology integrates multiple procedures including forging, precision grinding and abrasive belt polishing.
